UK Digital Bank Tandem Appoints Barclays Vet Paul Noble As New Chief Commercial Officer

UK digital banking group Tandem announced on Tuesday it has appointed Barclays vet and former CEO of Allium, Paul Noble, has been appointed its new Chief Commercial Officer. This news comes less than two months after Tandem acquired Allium. 

As previously reported,  Allium notably has a very “clear” focus on lending to improve homes by making them more energy efficient. The company’s loans enable consumers to make their homes more green and energy efficient. Loans for potential products include:  

  • Battery storage
  • Energy-efficient heating solutions e.g. air source heat pumps, insulation, boilers, etc. 
  • Solar panels
  • New innovative solutions such as EV charging

At the time of the acquisition’s announcement, Noble stated:

“The acquisition was great news for [Allium’s] customers and the team, which had worked ‘tirelessly’ to develop the business [focusing] on financing improvements for the environment. The combination of Allium and Tandem will create th ability to rapidly scale a green banking proposition and help more customer(s) access green finance products.”

Speaking about Noble’s new position, Ricky Knox, Tandem Bank CEO, shared,

“This is an exciting time for Tandem whilst we focus on becoming the UK’s first fully green digital bank and Paul’s experience is the perfect fit. He will play a crucial role in our mission to create eco-focussed products and services for our customers and ensuring our enduring mission of building ‘the good bank’ also means ‘the green bank.’” 

Noble added:

“People care, probably more than ever, about the future of our planet and are taking direct action to tackle the current climate crisis in ever increasing numbers. This includes self evaluating lifestyles and making money choices that actively work towards the realisation of a green agenda.
