Stepladder, a UK-based fintech focused on first-time home-buying, is now seeking £125,000 through its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. Stepladder is on a mission to help first-time buyers raise money for their homes.
“We are a dynamic, collaborative, diverse, and passionate team who are helping people achieve the dream of owning their first home. We do it because we believe that everyone has the ability to own their own home, and by empowering a generation of renters, we can make that dream a reality.”
Stepladder further revealed that it is tackling the housing crisis head-on with our innovative and powerful “StepLadder Circles” to help first-time buyers raise their property deposits and supporting them through a process that is usually lonely, stressful, and opaque.
“StepLadder Circles are based on a Rotating Savings and Credit Association model (ROSCA), which Co-Founder Matt studied in Brazil for his graduate thesis in 2006. Informally used by many communities around the world, the ROSCA harnesses the power of community to help people reach their savings goals faster and keeps them disciplined to stay on track.”
The fintech also generates revenue in the following ways:
- Membership Fees: The company charges a recurring fee to cover the cost of service
- Mortgage Origination: The company’s mortgage advisor partners pay us a fee for each Member who uses them
- Referral Fees: The company introduces its Members to solicitors, surveyors, and other service providers who pay us a referral fee
- Licensing Fees: As the company develops global partnerships in this next phase of our growth, it aims to generate revenue from partners who want to white label its platform
Funds from the Seedrs campaign will be used to continue the development of Stepladder’s products and services. The company is now offering a 20% discount through the round, which is set to close mid-May.
