Blockchain Security Firm CertiK Finalizes $80M Round at Nearly $1B Valuation

The team at CertiK recently revealed that they closed an $80M, Series B2 round of financial funding.

As noted by CertiK in a blog post:

“What makes this so interesting is that this round not only is the single largest round of fundraising for a company in the blockchain security space, but this funding now brings CertiK’s total valuation to nearly $1 Billion.”

The B2 investment round has been led by Sequoia Capital China, along with contributions from existing investors Tiger Global, Coatue Management, and GL Ventures (a Hillhouse Capital’s VC division). This is CertiK’s third funding round in four months, and brings the total investment in the firm to just over $140M.

As noted by the blockchain-focused firm, it has been “an incredible journey so far at CertiK, and it’s only going to get more exciting.” The firm has grown substantially, “both in people, and revenue, as well as new products.”

The company’s revenue growth numbers are “very strong, and don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.” Over the past year, the firm has “increased its revenue by 20x,” the update revealed.

As mentioned in the announcement:

“CertiK has increased its headcount by 4x in the past year and is still actively hiring. Recently, Dr. David Tarditi joined CertiK as Vice President of Engineering. Dr Tarditi has over 16 years of experience growing and leading engineering and research teams at Microsoft.”

He is also the inventor and co-inventor of 22 patents and has “carried out research on typed intermediate languages, which gives compiler developers proof of compiler phases maintaining key correctness properties of input source code,” the announcement added.

In addition, Monier Jalal, who has more than 20 years of leadership in the cybersecurity space, has also joined CertiK as VP of Marketing. Jalal has helped firms with successfully marketing and launching products and has been part of the founder and executive leadership team “driving the growth, acquisition, and IPO for several cybersecurity startups.”

The announcement also mentioned:

“Things are no different on the product front. CertiK recently released Skynet, a 24/7 active-monitoring platform that detects and protects blockchains against sophisticated attacks. Both Security Leaderboard and Skynet are seeing incredible growth. Since the end of 2020, Skynet booked revenue has grown 2,300%, and the total number of users on the Security Leaderboard has grown 2,000%. You can expect to see more product releases soon, as CertiK continues to innovate in this space.”

CertiK is on a mission to “globally secure the crypto world of blockchains and smart contracts.”

CertiK has demonstrated this via steady growth of its business, and support of security audits “for a large volume of over 1800 clients so far.”

The CertiK team wants to thank everyone for their support, and “look forward to sharing more exciting news in the future as we continue on our mission.”
