With Wyre’s compliance infrastructure, the team is pleased to confirm the addition of three new hires to “continue to boost our compliance framework as we build the foundation for the Future of finance and bring cryptocurrency to the masses.”

Debra Noll is joining Wyre from Coinbase as she “serves as general counsel — a key component of Wyre’s legal team, spearheading legal functions and working closely with [their] chief compliance officer and compliance team.”

Previously working as in-house counsel at Coinbase, Debra supported the launch of a suite of crypto based financial and advanced trading products and the Coinbase exchange. Before Coinbase, she spent more than 16 years in-house at American Express, “advising the business on payment products and digital and e-commerce platforms.”

Steven Huynh is joining Wyre from Binance.US and will “serve as the vice president of compliance, providing expertise across Wyre to maintain a compliance management system commensurate with the organizationʼs size, complexity, fraud, and overall risk profile while spearheading a multitude of other business objectives.”

As head of compliance at Binance.US, Steven “helped the team grow to one of the largest exchanges by volume in the US while promoting a culture of compliance by applying investigative and analytic techniques to maintaining a BSA and anti-money laundering program.” Before Binance.US, Steven spent about 14 years in sales and compliance “at both Western Union and Sigue Money Transfer.”

Stephen Cheng joins Wyre as the new chief compliance officer. He joins with more than 20 years of experience “driving innovation, sustainable growth and operational excellence globally to accomplish business objectives while managing legal and compliance risks.”

Before Wyre, Stephen was the Chief Compliance Officer and AML Officer of Prime Trust, an infrastructure provider to fintech innovators. He was also the Chief Compliance Officer of Green Dot, where he “architected and oversaw agile and scalable risk management frameworks to achieve commercial goals, including launching financial innovations and powering banking in consumer brands, such as Apple, Walmart, Intuit and Uber.”

Before Green Dot, Stephen “held executive compliance leadership positions at First Data and American Express.” He was also a corporate and securities attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati and management and information technology consultant at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.

CEO and co-founder, Ioannis Giannaros, stated:

“We are thrilled to welcome Debra, Steven and Stephen to the Wyre team.” This is a big step for our company as we not only look to maintain our leadership role in the cryptocurrency space, but also continue to create stronger compliance infrastructure during this critical time of growth.”

These newly-appointed leaders will help accelerate Wyre’s commitment to compliance, “in addition to licensing, liquidity, banking, and payment processing services, to allow our partners to create amazing tools on the blockchain and, ultimately, drive accessibility throughout the decentralized ecosystem.”
