Digital Asset Appoints Former CFTC Chairman to Board of Directors

Digital Asset has appointed J. Christopher Giancarlo to its board of directors. Giancarlo is the former Chairman of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission and well known for his interest in crypto assets.

Digital Asset stated that Giancarlo will provide counsel to Digital Asset’s leadership on strategic matters, including asset tokenization, distributed ledger technology (DLT) advancement, and the regulatory and monetary developments impacting this space. Giancarlo is expected to help the firm execute on its vision of building the “Global Economic Network.”

Giancarlo commented on his joining the board:

Giancarlo is currently Senior Counsel to the international law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher. He is also a member of several Boards, including Nomura Holdings, Common Securitization Solutions, LLC, and The American Financial Exchange.

In 2021, Digital Asset raised $120 million in a Series D financing round led by private equity firms, 7RIDGE and Eldridge, bringing the total funds raised to over $300 million.
