Crypto is shining when it comes to individuals expediting donations to Ukraine. Following Russia’s unprovoked invasion of the country, calls for donations, alongside government aid, have been posted on social media. As has been tracked by Elliptic, over $20 million in crypto has been donated from 23,000 transfers with one individual giving $3 million in crypto to a single NGO.
While some entities have been using GoFundMe, Patreon, etc., to seek donations to the beleaguered country, the immediacy of crypto transfers that are also low-cost proves that digital assets are the future of payments and transfers.
