Renz Chong: The intersection makes it easy for people to customize and create assets in the gaming space. NFT is tech that enables creative ownership, while AI is the tech that breaks creative barriers. Together, they present limitless possibilities for users to express themselves, creating deeper engagement and participation within the game and its community.

Renz Chong: As the space develops, there is a continuous emergence of ways to customize and personalize gaming experiences. In blockchain gaming for example, users are now given the power to participate and “own” beyond just playable characters—they are now able to customize traits of a particular game character, tailor wearables to reflect their style, and even contribute ideas for game lore. Together with the help of AI, creative barriers are lowered, enabling hyper-customization at scale for different aspects of gaming.

Renz Chong: AI has an ever-expanding range of use cases, from conversations to coding. At BreederDAO, our focus is on use cases that allow for customization and creation of digital assets: the characters, clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, furnishing, and other assets that we attach our identities to within gaming and other virtual worlds. AI is powerful tech that can produce limitless iterations of design beyond the user’s creative capability. And while output may initially be random, AI has the capacity for self-learning as it gathers data from its users.
The more you interact with it, the more it will produce output that is more attuned to your personal choices. With AI-powered personalization, a gamer can expand and then refine their options, create something that is a true reflection of their style, and use it across different gaming platforms as their signature. This level of interactive and interoperable ownership will create a more dynamic experience for every gamer.
Crowdfund Insider: What are the key challenges or limitations of NFT-based games that were considered in developing AI-driven tools for asset creation?
Renz Chong: Interoperability has always been a challenge for Web3 games. There are currently a lot of technical barriers to it because there hasn’t been a single protocol for how different games and platforms are built. This is one of the crucial challenges we are taking on as “The Factory of the Metaverse.” We believe it is important to provide the user with options, not just for customization, but also for how they want to utilize their assets. With AI Skins, our latest tool, users will be able to choose and download customized wearables as multiple file types, allowing them to be used on different platforms.
Crowdfund Insider: Are there any ethical considerations or concerns that arise when combining AI and NFTs in gaming? How can these be addressed?
Renz Chong: There needs to be a balancing act between honoring creative freedom and respecting intellectual property. In an ideal scenario, users should exercise ethical ideals and be accountable for what they create online. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case, so regulations must be implemented to create a safe and secure environment for web3 communities to thrive in. Moderating user-generated content to prevent inappropriate, unlawful, or infringing content from being featured or displayed on the platform is definitely at the top of that list.

Renz Chong: I see a future where people can create the way they play: Developments in AI perfectly coincide with the metaverse ushering in a new wave of Web3 creators, enabling everyone to be their own metaverse architect, designer, stylist, and everything else, for gaming and beyond. Web3 continues to prove that we are in an era of a more collaborative internet—a melting pot of knowledge, ideas, and creativity—an internet of our creation.
