Southeast Asia: Digital Bank Tonik has Onboarded Over 1M Clients Since March 2021 Launch

Tonik recently revealed that it’s pleased to announce that they have successfully “onboarded over 1 million users since they launched in March 2021.”

According to Tonik, this is such a momentous occasion for them “because it is solid proof of our significant contribution to improving financial inclusion in the country as the first digital bank licensed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.”

Tonik CEO and Founder Greg Krasnov said:

“We are thrilled to celebrate this momentous milestone, as it stands as a testament to the robust customer-centric model that Tonik has to offer. Achieving one million onboarded clients in such a short span is a validation of the growing trust and confidence of the Filipino community in our digital banking services.”

This milestone is such “an important development not just for the banking sector, but also for the entire country, where nearly half of the adult population remains unbanked.”

At Tonik, they claim to “have made it possible by using cutting-edge technology and a customer-focused approach where we prioritize our users’ needs above all else.”

This is reflected in everything they do, from their product offerings “all the way to our accessible, secure, and user-friendly app.”

Greg added:

“Financial inclusion has always been at the heart of our mission. We are proud to be part of the solution in bridging the gap for those who previously had limited access to banking services. Through Tonik, we are enabling more Filipinos to manage, save, and grow their money in a manner that is most convenient for them.”

But of course, they say that their work has “only just begun.”

at Tonik, they promise “to continue to innovate and enhance their offerings to better serve you,”

They are committed “to bringing modern and convenient banking closer to more and more Filipinos and create a more inclusive and financially empowered nation.”

As noted in the update, Tonik says it is “the first digital-only neobank in the Philippines, providing loan, deposit, and payment products to consumers on a highly secure digital banking platform.”

The neobank operates “based on the first digital bank license issued by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).”

Tonik is led by “a team of retail finance veterans who have previously built and scaled multiple retail banks and fintechs across global emerging markets.”

It is backed by international investors, “including Sequoia India, Point72 Ventures, and Mizuho Bank.”

Tonik’s tech stack is “integrated in partnership with world-class banktech vendors including Mastercard, Finastra, Amazon Web Services, Google, Genesys and Daon.”

Tonik operates “out of hubs in Singapore (HQ), Manila, and Chennai.”
