Online pension provider, PensionBee, is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Cavanagh as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel.
In 2015, Matthew served “as General Counsel to PensionBee.”
He now rejoins as head of PensionBee Group’s legal function, “with responsibility for the provision of legal advice to all aspects of the business and its respective boards, while also managing PensionBee’s external legal advisory relationships.”
Matthew has over 20 years of legal experience “specializing in asset and investment management, funds and finance law.” Most recently, Matthew reportedly “was Director, Executive Legal Counsel of sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority.”
His prior roles also “include working as a lawyer in private practice at international law firms Clifford Chance, Linklaters and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.”
He has also held significant roles “as a Partner at King & Wood Mallesons SJBerwin and General Counsel & Partner at asset manager, Christofferson, Robb & Company.” In addition, Matthew was “a council member of the Institutional Limited Partners Association Legal Advisory Council from 2020-2023.”
Matthew is a solicitor qualified “in England & Wales, Ireland and Australia (Queensland and High Court of Australia) and a Liveryman of the City of London Solicitors’ Company. He holds an LLM (specialising in Commercial Law), LLB (Hons) and BA (Double Major in Chinese) from The University of Queensland.”
