Rise Up Crowdfunding, a FINRA-regulated Funding Portal, has announced its official launch promoting three individual securities offerings.
Rise Up Crowdfunding was founded by CEO Ruth Hedges, well known in the investment crowdfunding world. Longtime industry supporter Attorney Kendall Almerico is another founder of the company.
According to a company release, Rise Up, a mission-driven funding platform that aims to support women and minority-founded firms, will be collaborating with Coca-Cola. Fernando Hernandez, Senior Director, Supplier Diversity for The Coca-Cola Company, said they share Rise Up Crowdfunding’s mission to support underrepresented groups.
“This much-needed resource can, in many cases, help small businesses scale up or expand their operations, open new locations, and grow their brands.”
Hedges noted that even today, just 3% of VC funding goes to women entrepreneurs. This percentage is even lower for black entrepreneurs.
“We believe in a future where the next world-changing business does not go unrealized because of a lack of access to capital. We launched Rise Up Crowdfunding to give all diverse small business founders a way to raise capital online from customers, supporters, fans, and the general public who want to invest and support these companies and strengthen communities,” said Hedges.
A firm leveraging the Reg CF securities exemption may raise up to $5 million in an online funding round. Both accredited and non-accredited investors may participate in the securities offering.
As part of the launch of the young Funding Portal, Rise Up Crowdfunding announced three initial securities offerings:
- Palomino The Movie, Inc. – a Hispanic-owned Hollywood feature film about the rags-to-riches story of Hall of Fame world boxing champion Carlos Palomino.
- Wunderground Coffee – a woman and LGBTQ-owned adaptogenic mushroom coffee company based in Seattle and led by former Starbucks marketing executives.
- Dunamis Charge– a black-owned and woman-led EV charging manufacturer, producing chargers made in America.
