Anchorage Digital co-founder and President Diogo Mónico is transitioning to the Executive Chairman of the Board of the digital asset firm while stepping in to become the General Partner at Haun Ventures. Anchorage’s CEO and co-founder, Nathan McCauley, will continue in his current role. Mónico is expected to continue driving the company’s strategy.
Haun Ventures is a crypto-focused VC firm with a $500 million early-stage fund and a $1 billion acceleration fund. Portfolio firms include OpenSea, TaxBit, Sovereign Labs, and others. Haun Ventures is the namesake VC firm of Katie Haun, who previously worked at Andreessen Horowitz and was an attorney at the US Department of Justice.
Haun posted an extended comment on Mónico joining her firm. She said that Mónico “brings personal experience building, leading, and growing a multi-billion-dollar company. In this way, he’s a perfect complement to our existing team.”

Anchorage Digital is the only federally chartered bank pursuing the digital asset industry, providing services to institutions such as custody, trading, governance, and more.
In a blog post, Anchorage described the change as positioning the firm for the increasing institutional adoption of digital assets. The company stated:
“We recently reached over US$50 billion in client assets under custody and record-high revenue. We’ve also launched two additions to our institutional suite of products—Porto, our self-custody wallet, and a separately managed account business designed for wealth managers—that serve the needs of both traditional and crypto-native institutions. Additionally, as the crypto ecosystem continues to expand and sentiment improves, we have been busy positioning Anchorage Digital to be optimally situated to grow into the next phase of our journey.”
Anchorage said it was working on its “next phase” without providing details while predicting a “high growth trajectory.”
