AI: Apex Raises $7 Million Seed Funding, Backed by Big Names

Artificial Intelligence (AI) firm Apex is reporting a $7 million Seed round led by big-name investors.

According to Apex, which has just emerged from stealth, Sequoia Capital and Index Ventures led the funding. Other prominent investors included Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.

Apexi is a security AI platform that offers a comprehensive view of a businesses AI activity, supporting defense against data leaks, attacks, privacy and other challenges.

Apex notes that since ChatGPT hit the scene, there has been a dramatic increase in the adoption of Generative AI, which is becoming the core of every company; while AI is a key strategic service, it also raises concerns and vulnerabilities to malicious activity. Matan Derman, co-founder, and CEO at Apex, says they are empowering firms to allow swift and secure adoption of AI.

“During the company’s founding, we consulted with dozens of executives to understand their needs and discovered a reluctance to adopt advanced AI due to security concerns. Apex is positioned to change all that, playing a key role in helping organizations secure AI models and applications and enabling them to leverage the power of AI safely.”

Apex was founded in 2023 by Derman and Tomer Avni (CPO), who met at the elite IDF intelligence unit 8200, where they served as officers. Both hold Master’s degrees from Stanford and Harvard, respectively.
