Digital Assets Firm Gemini Shares Update on Crypto Rewards Earned By Consumers via Credit Card Transactions

Since the Gemini credit card launched in April 2022, customers have reportedly earned millions in crypto rewards.

Cardholders who kept their crypto rewards “saw them more than double thanks to the recent crypto bull run.”

Here’s how Gemini credit card crypto rewards have performed:

  • The average value of Gemini Credit Card crypto rewards awarded to cardholders has grown $471
  • The top 10% of cardholders’ crypto rewards increased in value by at least $1,286
  • The top 10% of cardholders’ crypto rewards increased in value by at least 206%
  • The top 50% of cardholders’ crypto rewards increased in value by at least 122%

Unlike many traditional cash-back credit cards where your rewards will devalue over time, the Gemini Credit Card rewards “have the power to increase in value.”

Historically, when consumers signed up “for a traditional credit card with cash back, they received between 1% and 5% of the purchase price back and went on with their day.”

But recently consumers have “noticed these legacy programs have not lived up to their billing.”

In May, a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau report revealed “that many who sign up for cash-back rewards cards have experienced numerous issues.”

The CFPB notes, “Credit card companies often use rewards programs as a ‘bait and switch’ by burying terms in vague language or fine print and changing the value of rewards after people sign up and earn them.”

These issues are also problematic for cards “that offer rewards in airline, hotel or other loyalty points, as those programs regularly cut or decrease benefits.”

In comparison, Gemini Credit Card users’ rewards “have the power to grow.”

Since rewards are paid back in crypto, “the value of Gemini Credit Card rewards have showcased their ability to grow after hitting customer accounts as the value of cryptocurrencies have soared.”

Gemini Credit Card holders benefited “from bitcoin and ether’s recent rallies in particular.”

The value of bitcoin crypto rewards held “by cardholders have appreciated by 141.3%, while ether rewards have appreciated by 119.6%.”

Gemini Credit Card holders “have seen positive appreciation on their altcoin rewards.”

Customers who selected 16 of the alt coins “saw their rewards appreciate by more than 100%, 27 of the altcoins appreciated by more than 50%, and 30 saw depreciation.”

Here are a few of the top performing altcoins awarded to cardholders and the appreciation value of those rewards:

  • Fetch.AI (FET) rewards appreciated by 543.8%
  • Solana (SOL) rewards appreciated by 325.5%
  • Render (RNDR) rewards appreciated by 286.7%
  • Livepeer (LPT) rewards appreciated by 215.7%

The Gemini Credit Card has “no annual fee, no fee to receive crypto rewards, and no fee on foreign transactions.”

Rewards are delivered, and customers “can alternate between crypto rewards with no penalty.”

Plus, Gemini Credit Cardholders receive discounted “access Peacock Premium, as well as other discounts to Instacart, ResortPass, Lyft, Booking.com, and more.”

Additionally, they get access to crypto back rewards “through merchant reward offers at hundreds of merchant locations,”

The Gemini Credit Card offers “up to 4% back on Gas at the pump or EV charging on up to $200 in spend per month(then 1% on all other Gas at the pump and EV charging purchases that month), 3% back on dining, 2% back on groceries, and 1% back on other purchases.”

Customers can choose to earn those rewards “back in bitcoin, ether, or 50-plus other cryptocurrencies available on Gemini.”
