Backbase, the creator of the Engagement Banking Platform, marked the recent opening of its global headquarters at Oosterdoksstraat 114 in Amsterdam.
According to the engagement banking Fintech firm, this move is more than just a change of address; it represents another significant step forward in Backbase‘s aim to reimagine or re-architect banking around the customer and reaffirms itscommitment to “a culture of collaboration and a can-do mentality.”
Jouk Pleiter, Founder and CEO of Backbase, said that this move marks yet another ey phase for Backbase.
Their new headquarters in Amsterdam is more than “just a building.” Jouk added that it represents the outcome of a 20-year journey that is said to have been consistently “fueled by entrepreneurship, perseverance, and focus on innovation” as well as ensuring customer success — all driven by their people.
With the launch of their new HQ, their culture is more “important” than ever.
They now approach every day with the energy and curiosity of a startup: staying customer-obsessed, “constantly innovating, and never resting on past success.”
Especially with the rise of AI, this mindset is “absolutely” crucial.

The design of the 5,000 square-meter headquarters is said to embody or represent Backbase’s core values and inspires a can-do mentality, innovation, and collaboration.
Located in the heart of Amsterdam, it offers convenient “connectivity” and views of the IJ river, and is positioned alongside the global headquarters of well-known Dutch tech industry participants Booking.com and Adyen.
The circular layout of the office space is said to be symbolize the global Fintech firm’s collaborative ethos, “encouraging spontaneous interactions and fostering a strong sense of teamwork among Backbasers.”
Sustainability is said to be a key focus area of the new headquarters’ overall design.
It reportedly features “energy-efficient” systems, eco-friendly materials, and green spaces that reflect Backbase’s commitment to “reducing its environmental footprint while creating a healthy, inspiring work environment.”
