Quartr, a software and data provider enabling qualitative public market research for finance and investor relations (IR) professionals, announced the closing of a $6 million investment from Altos Ventures.
Altos is a San Francisco-based venture capital firm that is reportedly known for its uncommonly patient approach to building firms over the long term, leading them to become early investors and major shareholders of successful companies such as Roblox and Coupang.
Quartr chose Altos as partner due to their shared belief in “long-term thinking,” Altos’ track record, and the “personal chemistry” between their team and the founders of Quartr.
The Altos investment will further accelerate Quartr’s market share growth in the financial services industry. At the same time, Altos will take a seat on Quartr’s board, allowing for “deeper collaboration” and strategic involvement. Since its founding in 2020, Quartr has emerged as one of the distributors of IR material globally, offering a “free” mobile app, a research platform built for desktop use, and an API.
The company’s key product, Quartr Pro, has reportedly become a useful tool for several of the hedge funds, asset managers, and equity research departments, as well as the IR and corporate strategy teams.
Oscar Küntzel, co-founder and CEO of Quartr said that this validates their vision and gives them a partner for the long term.
Oscar added that the capital enables them to accelerate growth and continue transforming how finance and IR professionals conduct qualitative public market research.
Dillon Krasnigor, partner at Altos Ventures said that they’re looking forward to partnering with the Quartr team for the long journey ahead.
They also noted that from initially being users to now investors, they believe the company is building a critical tool for all finance and investor relations professionals globally.
Ho Nam, co-founder and general partner at Altos said that after meeting the Quartr team, we were excited to learn how much philosophical overlap they share between our companies.
Nam further noted that they’re focused on building a sustainable, enduring business for the long term and have a unique appreciation for the qualitative inputs to building an impactful, global business.
As mentioned in the announcement, Quartr provides 18 million end users around the world with easy access to first-party information from over 10,000 public companies.
Quartr’s product suite reportedly includes Quartr Pro, a desktop research platform used by leading hedge funds, asset managers, equity research departments, and IR professionals globally.
Quartr also provides mobile app and an API solution, enabling third parties to build solutions based on Quartr’s data, including “live earnings calls” and other IR material.
Established in 1996, Altos Ventures says it is a “purpose-driven” investment firm that partners with founders to build “enduring” businesses.
The firm reportedly invests in early-stage firms with solid operating fundamentals, focusing on long-term value creation.
Altos prefers visionary professionals with an “ownership mentality.”
