Singapore Fintech Association Welcomes Tribe Payments

Tribe Payments, a digital payment and infrastructure orchestrator focused on specializing in issuer and acquirer processing, joined the Singapore FinTech Association (SFA).

This latest milestone that builds on Tribe’s October 2024 expansion into Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

Joining the SFA strengthens Tribe’s presence within one of the world’s fintech ecosystems and signals its commitment to enabling innovation and collaboration within the region.

The SFA, anon-profit organization, connects around  900 entities across more than 40 countries, “serving as a hub for collaboration among fintech companies, regulators, and financial institutions.”

Through its membership, Tribe gains access to various opportunities, including forging partnerships, participating in industry advocacy efforts, and engaging with innovators shaping the future of fintech in APAC.

In addition to this, Tribe will now aim to benefit from the SFA’s networking events, insights into evolving “regional regulations, and inclusion in the prestigious SFA FinTech Registry.”

Membership reportedly offers “priority” consideration for international trade missions such as the ASEAN FinTech Movement.

Matt Weir, General Manager – Asia-Pacific at Tribe Payments, commented:

“We’re excited to join the Singapore FinTech Association, a central force driving collaboration and innovation across the APAC fintech ecosystem. This membership provides an excellent platform for us to connect with industry leaders, share our expertise, and advocate for advancements that empower businesses and consumers. Singapore’s role as a global fintech hub makes it the ideal base to expand our network, support our clients, and demonstrate our capabilities in the region. We see this as an opportunity to not only expand our footprint but also share our expertise, advocate for industry best practices, and explore meaningful collaborations that drive innovation and financial inclusion across the region.”

Tribe plans to participate in SFA subcommittees and events, working alongside other industry professionals to “address challenges, share insights, and drive meaningful innovation.”

These efforts align with the company’s mission to deliver payment solutions that enable businesses to “scale, navigate regulatory complexities, and unlock growth opportunities through next-gen payments technology.”

Reuben Lim, CEO at the Singapore Fintech Association, added:

“We are delighted that Tribe Payments has chosen Singapore as its regional hub for its APAC expansion and even more so that they have joined the SFA member community. We look forward to working with Tribe to further strengthen Singapore’s position as a leading fintech hub in the region.”

They also stated:

“The SFA serves as a catalyst for innovation and industry collaboration, and together with our members, we remain committed to engaging stakeholders to drive the growth and evolution of the payments landscape in APAC. We believe that Tribe’s innovation – with its modular issuer and acquirer processing solutions – will thrive in the region through Singapore.”

With the APAC digital payments market poised for growth, Tribe’s cloud-based payments processing platform is “positioned to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative solutions tailored to the region’s evolving needs.”

The company’s “success” in Europe – “working with payment giants like Mastercard, Visa, and UnionPay International – sets the stage for a strong APAC impact.”

Founded in 2018 as an issuer and acquirer processor, Tribe Payments has grown into a digital payments and infrastructure orchestrator “that empowers merchants, banks, fintechs, issuers and acquirers with an extensive ecosystem of products, so they can build, customise, and deliver innovative programmes at speed, without compromising quality.”

Tribe is Europe’s processor working with Mastercard, Visa, American Express, UnionPay International, Discover and JCB, offering “global connectivity through just one integration.”

It is a provider that can help fintechs become both “an issuer and acquirer through its proprietary API-led technology; with other innovative solutions in its armoury including POS/SoftPOS, Digital Wallet and Risk Monitor.”

Tribe’s mission is to deliver payment technology that “no longer compromises between scale and speed via its modular, scalable and secure (PCI Level 1 compliant) cloud-based platform.”
