Dwolla, a US-based A2A payment solution, has recently announced the general availability of its expanded integration with Plaid, a data network powering the digital financial ecosystem.
Dwolla‘s clients are now reportedly able to leverage Plaid’s instant account verification and real-time balance check alongside “pay-by-bank payments through a single vendor and a single API.”
The new solution operates via a single API that provides access to open banking services “integrated with pay-by-bank payment methods, including ACH, RTP and FedNow.”
This consolidated infrastructure is said to reduce technical overhead and vendor management complexities by “integrating financial functions into one vendor-managed solution while enhancing efficiency and accelerating development cycles.”
Brian Dammeir, Global Head of Payments and Financial Management at Plaid.
“Partnering with Dwolla represents our commitment to simplifying bank-based payments in financial services. Our combined solution offers enhanced security and efficiency, empowering businesses to integrate essential banking functions with ease and confidence—and we’re thrilled that it’s now available to enterprise customers.”
Branded Research, the companies’ first beta client, is now “leveraging the new Dwolla-Plaid integration to transform its survey payout process.”
Their platform reportedly enables users to complete “surveys in exchange for payments, and by employing Dwolla’s integration with Plaid, they can securely and instantly verify user accounts and initiate payments through a single API.”
Jenna Johnson, Director of Product at Branded Research said:
“We found the integration with Plaid via Dwolla to be remarkably simple, which translates directly to reduced maintenance complexity on our end. It has allowed us to streamline user account verification, reduce complexity and free up our team to focus on other priorities.”
Looking ahead, Dwolla plans to enhance this unified solution by integrating additional Plaid functionalities—including “identity data, expanded transaction insights and Plaid Signal for advanced ACH return risk scoring—delivering even deeper network-powered insights for risk management and operational efficiency.”
In addition to the unified API solution, Dwolla and Plaid can work together through the Secure Exchange Solution, which “allows clients to maintain a separate contract and API integration with both companies.”
This flexible model ensures businesses have “the tailored connectivity options they need to meet their unique payment process requirements.”
As noted in the update, Dwolla is a pay by bank payments platform, reportedly processing “$67 billion in transactions for more than 20 million users annually.”
Dwolla’s infrastructure layer replaces legacy technology “through a single API. Dwolla delivers enhanced security, data visibility and a superior customer experience.”
With experience in the payments landscape, Dwolla notes that it “takes the complexity out of payments so businesses can focus on what matters most.”
