Schroders has established a Global Digital Assets Centre of Excellence in Singapore, in a bid to strengthen its push into digital innovation and as a deeper commitment to the evolving landscape of tokenised finance, according to a company announcement.
The new centre, led by Marita McGinley, Global Head of Digital Asset Strategy, will serve as a global hub for Schroders’ digital asset initiatives.
It aims to accelerate the adoption of tokenisation and digital technologies to enhance client delivery and operational efficiency across the asset management firm’s global business.
“Our Digital Assets Centre of Excellence will navigate the twin worlds of traditional finance and the emerging digital ecosystem,” said Meagen Burnett, Group Chief Financial Officer of Schroders. “As next-generation wealth clients are digitally native, Schroders will continue to adopt these technologies to meet their evolving needs.”
The Singapore-based team will focus on three key areas: integrating tokenisation into Schroders’ core investment operations, capitalising on tokenised opportunities such as funds and collateral solutions, and developing a scalable digital operating model featuring smart contracts and reusable digital components.
The firm’s broader vision includes promoting composable finance, where components like mutual funds and equities are optimised through programmable digital tools, enabling real-time portfolio construction and personalised investment strategies.
“The launch marks a pivotal milestone in our journey to drive the evolution of asset management through digital innovation,” said Gopi Mirchandani, Head of Client Group, Asia. “Singapore’s fintech ecosystem is the ideal platform to reimagine how digital assets can unlock personalised, agile investment solutions at scale.”
The centre will also collaborate with regulators, policymakers, and academic institutions to help shape policy, develop industry standards, and share knowledge across the financial ecosystem.
The initiative aligns with Singapore’s ambition to become a global leader in fintech and supports Schroders’ involvement in the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Project Guardian, which explores asset tokenisation to enhance market liquidity and efficiency.
