Copper, a firm specialzing in digital assets collateral management and trading infrastructure for institutional clients, has announced a strategic collaboration with Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN).
This collaboration will see Copper’s ClearLoop network “integrated into Coinbase International Exchange providing institutional clients with access to Copper’s off-exchange settlement and collateral management platform.”
With the integration of Copper’s ClearLoop network, institutional clients can manage “collateral and settle trades in near real-time across multiple exchanges, reducing counterparty risk and improving capital efficiency.”
By leveraging Copper’s MPC (multi-party computation) technology, clients can securely “store their digital assets while benefiting from incredibly fast settlement speeds when trading on Coinbase International Exchange.”
ClearLoop allows institutional investors to “delegate assets instantly, boosting capital efficiency, reducing network fees, and helping to protect against operational risks.”
This results in agile collateral management “that can adapt to shifting market conditions.”
With its accelerated settlement cycle, ClearLoop enables investors to settle trades “directly on Copper’s infrastructure for secure and efficient management of collateral.”
Coinbase launched Coinbase International Exchange in 2023 to strengthen its reputation in the “global crypto derivatives market by providing traders with access to perpetual futures.”
Today, the exchange offers 150+ listed assets “with deep liquidity and up to 20x leverage.”
Alongside Coinbase International Exchange, ClearLoop’s exchange network also “includes Deribit, BIT, Bitfinex, Bitget, Bybit, Gate.io, Kraken MTF, OKX and PowerTrade.”
Amar Kuchinard, Global CEO of Copper commented:
“This significant integration with Coinbase International Exchange expands institutional access to rapid, secure off-exchange trading and settlement. This is a milestone in the development of a mature digital assets industry, combining seamless collateral management with incredible speed and security.”
Marc Zeitouni, CEO of Coinbase International Exchange commented:
“Institutional clients demand both security and agility when managing digital assets. By integrating with Copper’s ClearLoop network, we’re delivering on both fronts — combining Coinbase International Exchange’s regulated, high-performance trading venue with off-exchange settlement that improves capital efficiency. This partnership underscores our commitment to building the infrastructure institutions need to confidently engage with digital assets at scale.”
Coinbase and Copper are also pleased to “welcome Ethena as a day one launch partner.”
Guy Young, Founder of Ethena:
“Integrating the Coinbase International Exchange as one of our hedging venues via ClearLoop enhances our ability to scale our infrastructure — helping us better manage risk, increase our operational efficiency, and ensure deeper liquidity when executing the hedge trades underpinning USDe. We look forward to continuing to work with Coinbase and Copper to build out the tools and features that will power the next generation of onchain finance.”
Together, Coinbase and Copper aim to provide a “seamless experience for institutions seeking to safeguard and grow their digital asset portfolios.”
