Adyen (AMS: ADYEN), the global financial technology platform for businesses, and SAP, one of the world’s enterprise software providers, have announced the go-live of the SAP Commerce Cloud, Open Payment Framework (OPF). This payment solution is designed to remove the need for manual payment integrations and simplify the setup and payment service providers (PSPs) management.
Freedom Furniture, one of Australia’s home retailers, is reportedly among the first merchants internationally to implement the solution.
Developed in partnership between SAP and Adyen, the Open Payment Framework enables retailers to accelerate time to market with integrated ecommerce payment capabilities.
As a pre-built, cloud-native extension for SAP Commerce Cloud, OPF enables seamless deployment, faster reconciliation, and access to Adyen’s full suite of payment methods without extensive development work.
Nadia Qureshi, Global Head of Partnerships at Adyen said that being the first PSP live on OPF reflects their commitment to collaborating with SAP and assisting merchants in “modernizing their payments stack with minimal integration effort.”
With over 60 retail locations and a growing ecommerce business, Freedom Furniture’s adoption of OPF positions them at the forefront of digital transformation in retail.
The integration supports the firm’s omnichannel strategy by reducing complexity and time-to-market across the payments lifecycle.
Marcus Schreiner, Global Vice President SAP Customer Experience – Partner & Ecosystem Strategy said that with Open Payment Framework, merchants can “accelerate innovation, lower integration costs, and offer their customers a … seamless payment experience.”
The Open Payment Framework is reportedly available to SAP Commerce Cloud merchants.
SAP and Adyen plan to continue their collaboration on embedded payments across SAP’s ecosystem, including “future extensions into AI use cases, customer loyalty and financial services.”
Recently, Adyen also announced its partnership with the Groupe CH, Quebec’s premier sports and entertainment organization and owner of the Montreal Canadiens.
As the organization’s payments partner, Adyen will power payments across the Bell Centre, enabling seamless checkout experiences for fans.
Home to one of hockey’s passionate fan bases and the largest capacity of any NHL venue, the Bell Centre “processes tens of thousands of transactions every game, seeing intense transaction surges before puck drop and between periods.”
To address this demand, the partnership equips the arena with terminals, designed to deliver “reliability, transaction speed and security.”
Beyond concessions, suite guests will benefit from the ability “to pre-authorize payments at the start of the game and close them out afterward to avoid missing the action.”
By pairing the Canadiens’ dedication to innovation with Adyen’s ability to deliver financial technology, this partnership aims to set a standard for in-venue experiences, while also marking a key milestone for Adyen’s growth in Quebec.
