Open Banking: Salt Edge Invests in Sientia

Open banking platform Salt  Edge has made a strategic investment in Sientia.

Sientia is a “payments-linked advertising platform” that supports rewards, loyalty programs, and insight into purchasing activity. Sientia is a bootstrapped firm that works with global brands including Adidas, Ocado, Lyle & Scott, Honest Burger, and Poolhouse.

Salt Edge is a well-established open banking platform that enables its users to access bank channels. Its services are currently in use in more than 5000 financial institutions in 50 different countries. This includes over 2700 institutions in Europe and the UK.

Sientia co-founder Sina Saidinayer said Salt Edge’s global reach made the decision easy. Saidinayer said they were exploring a new direction by combining customer-consented transactions with marketing applications, including rewards.

Salt Edge noted the partnership highlights a broader opportunity in the Open Banking ecosystem by integrating data with loyalty and rewards technology to connect real-world spending to targeted, permission-based marketing without relying solely on cookies or card-network data.
