Edelman Financial Engines’ Bitcoin ETF Position Now Exceeds Its Amazon Holdings

Edelman Financial Engines has revealed a substantial allocation to Bitcoin exchange-traded funds that surpasses its investment in Amazon. The firm, one of the largest independent registered investment advisors in the United States, disclosed the details through a recent regulatory filing covering the second quarter of 2026.

Edelman Financial Engines oversees approximately $326 billion in assets under management and provides services to about 1.3 million clients, many of whom are everyday individuals focused on retirement savings.

According to its Form 13F filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the period ending June 30, 2026, the advisor holds roughly $34 million across spot Bitcoin ETFs.

This position is divided between BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), the leading product by assets under management in the category, and Grayscale’s Bitcoin Trust (GBTC).

Although the Bitcoin allocation represents only about 0.012 percent of the firm’s overall portfolio, it has drawn attention because it now exceeds Edelman’s reported $25 million stake in Amazon.

The ETFs offer a regulated, brokerage-friendly way for advisors to gain exposure to Bitcoin’s price movements without the need for direct custody of the digital asset.

This move aligns closely with the long-standing views of the firm’s founder, Ric Edelman.

He has publicly supported Bitcoin ETFs since 2019, well ahead of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) approval of spot Bitcoin products in January 2024. Edelman also established the Digital Assets Council of Financial Professionals to help educate advisors on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

The disclosure forms part of a wider pattern of institutional interest visible in the latest round of quarterly filings.

Other players have also updated their Bitcoin ETF positions.

JPMorgan reportedly expanded its IBIT holdings significantly, UBS increased its exposure substantially, and Santander submitted its first Bitcoin ETF disclosure.

Separately, Tudor Investment Corporation, the firm associated with investor Paul Tudor Jones, reported holding 688,529 shares of IBIT valued at about $22.9 million as of June 30, an increase from the previous quarter.

These filings illustrate a gradual but steady integration of Bitcoin into traditional investment portfolios.

While the absolute amounts remain modest relative to the total assets managed by large advisors, the symbolic weight of a major firm like Edelman Financial Engines assigning more capital to Bitcoin ETFs than to a blue-chip technology leader such as Amazon underscores shifting perceptions of digital assets.

Bitcoin ETFs have provided a familiar vehicle that fits within existing advisory frameworks, reducing some of the operational and regulatory barriers that previously limited broader adoption.

Market observers note that such incremental allocations by large wealth managers can influence other advisors and potentially contribute to sustained demand for the underlying asset.

At the same time, the small percentage of overall portfolios involved highlights a cautious approach, consistent with the risk-management practices typical of firms serving retail and retirement clients.

As more 13F data continues to emerge from the second-quarter reporting period, attention will likely remain focused on how traditional finance institutions calibrate their exposure to Bitcoin and related products. Edelman Financial Engines’ latest disclosure adds a concrete data point to the ongoing conversation about the place of digital assets in mainstream investment strategies.
