Visa and Mesh Partner to Enable Direct Crypto and Stablecoin Spending at Merchant Locations Worldwide

Crypto payments network Mesh announced a strategic collaboration with Visa that aims to let consumers spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances directly at Visa (NYSE: V) accepting merchants worldwide.

The arrangement connects Mesh’s transaction orchestration capabilities with Visa’s acceptance network, which covers more than 175 million merchant locations across over 200 countries and territories and processed $14.2 trillion in payments volume during fiscal 2025.

The goal is to allow users to draw on balances already held in participating wallet applications for both in-store and online purchases, without first converting assets to traditional currency, transferring funds to a bank, or loading a separate payment card.

Under the model, a Visa credential is created in the background when a transaction occurs.

Consumers can then tap a standard contactless terminal or complete an online checkout using their existing digital wallet.

Mesh manages the real-time funding and any necessary conversion across supported holdings that may include cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and fiat.

From the merchant’s perspective, the payment arrives as an ordinary Visa transaction in local currency, requiring no new hardware and no modifications to existing checkout systems.

Mesh, founded in 2020, already supports more than 200 enterprises on its network and connects hundreds of millions of users through partners such as Kalshi, Tools for Humanity, Félix Pago, Majority, and KAST.

Platforms that hold customer balances can offer the feature through a single integration with Mesh rather than developing and operating their own card-issuing programs.

Mesh will act as program manager, handling user onboarding and know-your-customer processes.

Once a platform goes live, its users gain access to spending wherever Visa is accepted.

Mesh CEO and co-founder Bam Azizi described the initiative as addressing a longstanding gap in digital-asset usability.

He noted that cryptocurrency has not primarily faced a spending problem but rather a final-connection challenge, and that previous solutions typically required obtaining a dedicated card.

By managing funding and conversion at the moment of payment, Mesh aims to turn balances into immediate purchasing power with no asset movement required of the user and no operational changes for the merchant.

Visa’s Global Head of Growth, Rubail Birwadker, stated that the partnership supports consumers’ expectations to use their money in flexible ways and extends how digital-asset balances can connect to everyday payment experiences that people and businesses already trust.

The announcement highlights the scale of potential demand.

Research cited by Mesh indicated roughly 774 million global cryptocurrency owners as of June 2026.

At the same time, crypto card spending volumes were estimated at about $1.5 billion per month by late 2025, representing a small fraction of overall payments activity.

Existing methods for converting digital balances into fiat spending generally require users to cash out to a bank account or enroll in a platform-specific card.

The new approach seeks to remove those intermediate steps.Specific details remain pending.

Mesh has not yet disclosed the launch timeline, the list of supported assets or devices, the initial participating wallets and platforms, or the markets where the service will first become available.

These elements will be shared as rollout plans are finalized. Over the longer term,

Mesh has indicated a broader vision of making value spendable wherever consumers hold it, building on prior efforts such as joining Paxos’s Global Dollar Network and launching programs to streamline enterprise crypto payments. The collaboration adds another channel through which digital-asset holders can access conventional commerce infrastructure while leaving merchant-side operations unchanged.
