The Graph, a Protocol for Indexing and Querying Blockchain Data, Eclipses 1 Trillion Lifetime Queries

Recently, The Graph, a protocol for indexing and querying blockchain data, eclipsed one trillion queries.

For years, subgraphs on The Graph have “been powering thousands of decentralized applications (dapps) in development and production across the hosted service and Graph Network.”

There are over 74,000 subgraphs “powering data to dapps, solidifying The Graph as a critical component for innovation and growth for web3.”

Over the last three months, query volume “across The Graph ecosystem grew by 33%, and surpassed one trillion lifetime queries.” In July 2020, the hosted service “processed one billion queries, and just nine months later surpassed 20 billion queries.” The explosive growth elevates The Graph’s usage “among innovators and alludes to continued usage far beyond its first trillion queries.”

Edge & Node CEO, Tegan Kline said:

“Web3 continues growing, and with it, the demand for robust and reliable blockchain data. Innovators need quality data to power their ideas and unleash the full potential of web3. This is just the beginning of the journey. We’re revolutionizing data indexing and querying with blockchain technology, and empowering the next generation of trailblazers.”

Exceeding one trillion queries “highlights The Graph’s vital role in enabling developer access to crucial data and providing them with reliable tools to index and query blockchain data effortlessly.” The Graph is serving “an average of 1.4 billion queries per day, and reaching nearly 100,000 developers across the globe.”

As noted in the update, The Graph is “the indexing and query layer of web3. Developers build and publish open APIs called subgraphs, that anyone can query using GraphQL.”

The Graph currently “supports indexing data from over 39 different networks including Ethereum, NEAR, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, Celo, Fantom, Moonbeam, IPFS, Cosmos Hub and PoA with more networks coming soon.”

To date, 74,000+ subgraphs have “been deployed on the hosted service. Tens of thousands of developers use The Graph for applications such as Uniswap, Synthetix, KnownOrigin, Art Blocks, Gnosis, Balancer, Livepeer, DAOstack, Audius, Decentraland, and many others.”
