Crowdfunding Inventor Who Launched ōlloclip is Finalist for Entrepreneur 2013

ōlloclip on iPhoneThe olloclip, an iPhone quick change camera lens, crowdfunded on Kickstarter back in the ancient days of crowdfunding in 2011.  The campaign set a goal of raising $15,000 but trounced that amount when 1300 delivered contributions in the amount of $68,201.  Successfully financed, founder Patrick O’Neil from Huntington Beach, California did not stop there and today the accolades continues.

O’Neil has been announced as a finalist for Entrepreneur Magazine’s, Entreprenuer 2013 Award.  He is one of 5 in the “Established” category – a far  cry from his crowdfunding days.  Votes are presently being accepted through September 17th.

The ōlloclip is now sold in an incredible 90 countries, available at online retailers like Apple and Best Buy.  The clip on lens offers three lenses – fish eye; wide angle and macro.  The company has grown considerably and now offers additional lenses such as telephoto and polarized options.  ōlloclip has captured a bevy of awards including Patrick O'NeilWIRED’s Editors pick for iPhone Lens and an award at CES for the 2013 Design and Engineering category.

“We’re proud to have helped create a category of easy-to-use mobile photography tools that allows photographers to create a major impact on social media sites like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook,” said O’Neill. “We’re equally proud of our strong commitment to helping students develop a love of photography by donating olloclips to local schools’ photography departments and supporting charities that are important to our passionate fans who use mobile photography as a way to spread the word and boost support.”

O’Neil backed his product early on with a personal line of credit on his home augmented by proceeds from his 2011 Kickstarter campaign.
