On Thursday, Kickstarter success and  developer of 3D scanning solutions, Fuel3D, announced it has developed a new 3D foot-scanning system. This news comes after the company announced the Horizon 2020 funding for the development of a 270 degree scanning system for the eyewear sector.

Fuel3D 2The CryoScan3D, which was developed with Cryos Technologies, was seen for the first time last week at the World Congress of Podiatry in Montreal, Canada. It is described as a high-resolution, full-color 3D models of the foot in a range of positions to enable the creation of dynamic foot orthotics.

John Stimpson, president of Cryos Technologies., commented:

“Gone are the days of plaster moulds and geographic limitations in our industry – digital imaging allows the podiatry and orthotics business to be scaled up to new levels. We wanted to address some of the key challenges in 3D foot-scanning and Fuel3D’s scanning platform provided us with a high-quality, cost-effective way to do that. We have worked very effectively with the Fuel3D development team to build the CryoScan3D, and are looking forward to transforming the podiatry sector with this great product.”

Stuart Mead, CEO of Fuel3D, added:

“We’re delighted to be working with a technology innovator like Cryos Technologies, which demonstrates the efficiency and competitive advantage that can be achieved at the point of sale to revolutionize traditional techniques. We are focused on delivering scalable hardware and software solutions by working with technology specialists across a broad range of sectors. This is the first of many enterprise engagements for us, and we are looking forward to sharing the news about our work on other projects in the near future.”

Fuel3D 3Fuel3D is a developer of advanced 3D scanning systems and solutions. Originally developed for the medical imaging sector, the Fuel3D technology has been adapted for the broader 3D market, with the goal of bringing the benefits of point-and-shoot 3D imaging to consumers, professionals and businesses.

The company successfully secured $300,000 during its first Kickstarter campaign in 2013. It then returned to the crowdfunding giant in 2015 for its product, SCANIFY, and captured $325,343.
