APTA Biosciences Funding Round to Close Sunday After Raising £1.6 Million

Apta BiosciencesThey Syndicate Room has had a growing number of Health / BioTech equity crowdfunding offerings run through their platform.  Recently they launched a campaign to raise capital for Time for Medicine which has quickly jumped to over 50% funded.  Now they have announced that Apta Biosciences will be closing their crowdfunding round this Sunday having raised 106% of goal by capturing £1,642,000 from 45 investors.  Pre-money valuation on the company was stated at just over £3 million.  The offer was willing to accept up to £1.75 million.

Apta Biosciences has developed a method for creating a new group of synthetic molecules known as “Adaptamers”.  These Adaptamer molecules are artificial chemical substances made to resemble the characteristics of proteins such as antibodies. Antibodies recognize and mark alien substances in the body, such as bacteria and viruses.   The company holds 25 patents for their Adaptamer development.  Led by a team of experienced life sciences entrepreneurs. The company was spun-out from Fujitsu in August 2013, where the technology was worked on for more than 10 years.

Syndicate RoomSyndicateRoom offers crowdfunding opportunities that have already received investments from established angel investors.  In this case Apta received backing from Ranworth Capital, a UK family office with a life science focus.  Ranworth likes to invest in early stage companies and are currently represented on the Apta board.  The offer is EIS eligible.
