Blue Mountain StateCrowdfunding on Kickstarter, Blue Mountain State: The Movie closed their successful crowdfunding campaign a few moments ago have raised $1,911,827 from 23,999 backers.  The film set out to raise $1.5 million and they crossed that mark this past weekend as they picked up momentum in the final stretch of their campaign.  The project was aided significantly by their wide – global – fan base which organizers quickly put to work using a guerrilla marketing tactic of setting up a competition between colleges to see which student body could provide the most funding.  The winning college will receive a visit from the entire BMS crew, a private screening and probably a party with mojitos.  At the most recent tally Arizona State University was in the top spot but final numbers will not be released until Eric Falconer can “scientifically” add up the posts from the comment section to see who wins the prize.

Eric FalconerBlue Mountain State, created by Eric Falconer, is now the 3rd most funded film on Kickstarter ever following Rob Thomas’ “Veronica Mars” Film and Zach Braff’s “Wish I Was Here”.  Spike Lee’s film now stands in fourth place on the list.

Blue Mountain State – the movie is based of a series that was broadcasted on Spike.  The show was cancelled after the third season but during the three years on TV the comedy series captured a dedicated following of hard core fans as they followed the fictional university, Blue Mountain State and their football – “The Mountain Goats”.
