Earlier this month, Pangaea Services, Inc., the creators of Indiegogo-success The Defender, announced that it is participating in the crowdfunding giant’s new forever funding program.
As previously reported, The Defender is made to provide confidence and peace of mind, by taking crime prevention to the next level.This system utilizes “smart” technology and a hand-held device that is small enough to hang from your keychain. The Defender wants to make thugs think twice.
Here’s how it works: The Defender’s smart phone app connects via Bluetooth with The Defender device. The Defender features a camera, oscillating flash, siren and pepper spray all-in-one and connects with the 24/7 alert monitoring service through the smart phone app. The Defender goes into action instantaneously with one button.
The Defender snaps a photo of the attacker, while the siren sounds to attract attention and the high-strength pepper spray leaves them immobilized. A message is sent directly to monitoring agents. Users control the information shared from within the app included a user profile with photo, medical conditions, and any relevant safety concerns that users will want to share with authorities.
During a recent interview, Pangaea Service’s Co-Founder and CMO, Ryan McManus, stated, “The Indiegogo community supported our campaign in a big way and we are indebted to our supporters. Our responsibility is to deliver on our crowdfunding promise with great technology and we are well on our way to do that! We have made further advancements in product development and we plan to take some extra time to get this right. Extending our campaign allows us to continue connecting with people who love technology and want to have the newest and most original products, like The Defender. We are thrilled to be a part of Indiegogo’s Forever Funding program.”
Backers of The Defender’s original campaign will be the first to receive the device when it is delivered in 2015. Those who give during the forever funding campaign will get their product later in the year. The available perfects include team shirts, along with 12 months of monitoring services for $179 and a pair of Defenders for $299.
