Beepi Adds Larry Summers, Jim Messina & Marjorie Ehrich Lewis to Advisory Board

beepi 1Beepi, the fast-growing marketplace that is probably the future of buying and selling used cars, has added some impressive names to its board of advisors.

Announced today are the following additions:

Larry Summers – former Secretary of the Treasury. He also served as President of Harvard University and as the Chief Economist of the World Bank.  Summers currently is on the board of directors for both Square and Lending Club.

Jim Messina – former Deputy Chief of Staff to President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2011. He has been called “the mastermind behind President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign”. In 2013, Messina launched The Messina Group, in this capacity, Messina served as senior advisor to Prime Minister David Cameron for the 2015 elections.

Fast CarsMarjorie Ehrich Lewis – retired Gibson Dunn partner and veteran litigator she comes to Beepi with thirty years of automotive industry experience representing major automobile manufacturers in legislative and franchise matters.  She was named by the Daily Journal as one of California’s “Top Women Litigators” in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012.

Beepi raised money via AngelList in 2014. It went on to raise additional funding to fuel platform growth.

The three new advisory board members will “provide ongoing counsel” at it expands across the country and manages the myriad of state and federal regulations.

“Making markets function by reducing friction is crucial to the performance of the American economy,” said Summers. “Beepi’s mission of transforming the $390 billion used car market is profoundly important.”
