Social Network For Health “HealthUnlocked” Quickly Raises £1M on Crowdcube

HealthUnlocked, a social network for health, has recently launched a Crowdcube campaign to raise nearly £1.5 million as it plans to expand its team. The website reportedly raised £3.5 million from London and Silicon Valley investors before making its way to the equity crowdfunding platform.

Medical 2Launched in Europe 2010 and in the U.S. in 2014, HealthUnlocked claims to be the third-largest health website in the UK and top 20 globally. It has more than 500,000 members and received 40 million site visits in the past year. The platform stated that it is integrated into NHS websites (NHS Choices, CCGs, and providers) and uses artificial intelligence (AI) to signpost people to useful health knowledge through recommended content and service.

“HealthUnlocked is a social network for health, providing peer-to-peer support and a range of products to improve health outcomes and reduce costs of delivering health. We connect millions of people each year, providing relevant information, products, and services to better manage their health.”

The HealthUnlocked team stated the platform was founded in response to the lack of continuity and information that was available to patients. They noted that they work with stakeholders in the healthcare sector who also are seeking patients. These include health insurers and care providers, pharmaceutical and clinical research organizations, market research agencies, manufacturers of healthcare products, and providers of healthcare services.

Along with expanding its team, HealthUnlocked will also use the Crowdcube funds to support further development of its AI and expand its commercial presence in the U.S. The campaign is set to close at the beginning of November.
