Seedrs Alum Eventopedia Receives $120,000 Microsoft Scholarship

Seedrs alum and online event planner community Eventopedia announced last week it was accepted into Microsoft’s BizSpark Plus program, which the platform stated offers a selected startups that are considered to have a high growth potential in their markets.

eventopedia-1The platform has notably been awarded $120,000 of Azure cloud services, which will be honored throughout the next two years, as well as technical support and other services. Eventopedia’s CEO, Toby Heelis, stated:

“We are delighted to be working so closely with Microsoft and to have been accepted onto the BizSpark Plus programme.  It’s extremely encouraging to have such validation for our product and future development plans, and it provides our customers with added confidence in both our current and future developments.”

Eventopedia added that the sponsorship would enable its platform to focus investments elsewhere, such as developing new features, extending destination coverage, investing in marketing, and customer acquisition.

Eventopedia secured £128,605 through its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs last year and stated it was designed to make make the corporate meeting and event industry more efficient.

“We want to become the world’s leading event supplier sourcing and information platform. Eventopedia has been described by Conference News as ‘the Tripadvisor for events community.’”

Eventopedia was launched in January 2015 and has more than 20 hotel and venues as paying subscribers.
