OurCrowd Funded Zebra Medical Vision Raises Additional $30 Million in C Round

Zebra Medical Vision has announced the completion of a $30 million C round led by aMoon & Aurum Ventures. Zebra is a machine learning startup in the medical imaging sector that automates chest X-ray analysis thus lowering the cost and diminishing the time necessary for the crucial aspect of healthcare. Total funding to date now tops $50 million. Israel based Zebra received early funding from leading crowdfunding platform OurCrowd who joined in an earlier round next to other big name investors such as Khosla Ventures, NVIDIA, Marc Benioff, and Dolby Ventures. Existing investors all participated in the Series C.

Zebra says the chest x-ray AI analytics product was trained using nearly 2 million images to identify 40 different common clinical findings. The results of the study are said to establish a new bar for AI research in medical imaging, demonstrating high rates of agreement between the algorithm and human radiologist experts. The company’s current portfolio of AI algorithms is only a $1 per scan offering to hospitals, making the service highly affordable.

Zebra Medical Vision has received the CE regulatory mark for seven of its products, as well as approvals in multiple countries across Latin America and Asia, and is building an extensive pipeline of AI based products. It’s most recent announcements were the CE approval of CT brain bleed and mammography lesion detection algorithms.

“Medical experts worldwide are facing a critical challenge in handling overwhelming demand. We are excited to partner with the Zebra team, which is harnessing the power of data and machine learning to provide physicians and healthcare systems with tools to dramatically increase capacity, while improving patient care,” commented Dr. Yair Schindel MD, Managing Partner at aMoon VC. “This investment aligns with our vision of backing scalable and sustainable innovations that will have a valuable impact on fundamental facets of global healthcare.”

Elad Benjamin, co-founder and CEO of Zebra, said he was extremely proud of his team that is pushing to develop and release next generation AI products with “the commitment to make them affordable to the global market.”
