The Artificial Intelligence lab located in Zurich, Switzerland, is in the process of crowdfunding a humanoid robotics project. Their revolutionary creation has been titled Roboy 2013.
Currently the campaign has raised over CHF 300,000 with a goal of CHF 500,000. The lab, located at the University of Zurich has captured the support of over 10 different organizations to achieve their objective. ROBOY is currently scheduled to be unveiled at the Robots on Tour to be held in Zurich on March 8th and 9th of this year.
The scientific team decided to use crowdfunding to speed up the process to develop ROBOY. The goal was to build the robot in 9 months. State of the art robots science and technology are being utilized to create this unique human like robot.
The group took a somewhat unique approach in using their own crowdfunding platform to generate grass roots financing. Contributions start at CHF 2.00 up to CFH 10.000 with individual sponsorships available. For CFH 5,000.00 you will be able to rent ROBOY for a day to show off his skills at a scheduled event. For CFH 2.00 you will receive a Facebook friend invitation.
