Equity crowdfunding site Crowdcube announced they have been selected to be on the FinTech 50 Watchlist for 2013. The list is put together to recognize companies which are redefining the financial services industry. The panel selects which businesses they feel are disruptive or will impact the financial industry greatly. The panel members include some of the leading names in the finance / tech industry. The FinTech list is described as;
As business top 50s go, this one is a little different.
There is no outright winner or suite of awards. We didn’t call for submissions. And FinTechs were not selected solely on the basis of recession-busting growth … however impressive the numbers.
This 50 is all about the qualities that makes FinTech a hot technology sector. In our panel’s view, every business on the list has either the potential to become a game-changer or the competitive staying power to continue being one. It’s our small tribute to a hugely enterprising sector that is redefining financial services. And to the movers, shakers and downright disruptive technologies within it that, in our panel’s view, will be the ones to watch in 2013.
Crowdcube recently celebrated their 2nd year of equity crowdfunding having raised over £5.7 Million to date.
