DC Comics’ We Can Be Heroes fundraising campaign surpasses $100,000

On April 23, 2013, through the crowd funding website Indiegogo.com, DC Comics’ We Can Be Heroes campaign surpassed $100,000 more than doubling the company’s original goal in their fight against hunger. The We Can Be Heroes fundraising campaign is in its second year of humanitarian aid for the Horn of Africa.

In 2011, the United Nations declared famine for the first time in 21 years as more than eight million people in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia were forced to face a crisis unlike any other from starvation, displacement and death. Humanitarian aid arrived and by 2012 the famine declaration was lifted. But there is still a lot to do.

DC Comics has mobilized their heroes Batman, Superman and the rest of the Justice League to muster support for the people in Africa. With every dollar donated DC Comics is able to provide food, medicine and healthcare to so many affected in the region.
