WATCH: Road Redemption Demo On Oculus Rift Shows Potential of Both

The video demo of “Road Redemption” on the Oculus Rift VR headset is mind-blowing.

Remember Road Rash? It was a series of video games in the 90’s that had players fighting eachother while riding motorcycles. It was not only popular but also a lot of fun. Road Redemption is the game’s spiritual successor and has a current campaign on Kickstarter, but the game has just hours left to cover the remainder of the stated $160,000 goal.

Oculus VR support is listed as a stretch goal if the campaign hits $198,000 in funding.

Road Redemption is meant to be a modern riff on the original Road Rash series, which reached it’s height in popularity during the times of 16-bit consoles.

Distribution is intended for Mac/PC, Wii U and possibly Steam. An Xbox 360 port is also listed as a stretch goal, although that goal is reached at $178,000 in funding and before Oculus VR support.

Game preorders are being taken for as little as $15 and delivery is estimated for July of next year.

DarkSeas Games is behind the project and hails from New Orleans, Louisiana. Team members have been involved in games from the God of War series, Star Wars series and others for major shops like Sega, Bioware and EA.

It’s going to be close!
