Equity Crowdfunding site Crowdcube Partners with Halo Angel Network

HaloUnited Kingdom based Crowdcube and Halo, the Northern Ireland (NI) business angel network have jointly announced a partnership where NI companies can approach Halo and be directed towards possible funding from Halo angels, Crowdcube investors or a combination of both networks creating more options for investors and companies in search of capital.

Halo currently has over 100 business angels who have invested over £6m in NI companies.  Halo investors have invested £16 Million via Crowdcube, which has approval from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and is the largest equity crowdfunding portal in the United Kingdom.

Alan WattsLuke Lang, co-founder of Crowdcube speaking at the Belfast launch said: “Crowdcube operates like Dragon’s Den, but via the Internet empowering armchair dragons with the chance to invest in companies that interest them.

“We have over 50,000 investors who have raised over £16m for 82 businesses. We are delighted that, through Halo, this process can be extended to make it more accessible to NI companies”.

Alan Watts, Director of Halo, said: “This is one of a number of partnerships Halo has entered into both with crowdfunders and other angel groups.

“Companies can now apply to Halo and we will direct them towards crowdfunding or conventional angels depending on which is best suited to their needs.”

Halo  is a joint initiative of Invest Northern Ireland and Intertrade Ireland and delivered by the NI Science Park. Halo facilitates the investment of private capital in companies that are either based in Northern Ireland or have a significant presence there. Although run from within the NI Science Park, Halo is open to all NI companies except those operating in property or straight retail. Halo will look at all stages from start-up to established and both technical and non-technical companies. Since 2009, over £6m of investment from angels has gone into NI companies.
