Tomorrow is a big day in the world of Kickstarter and video games. Double Fine Productions will release part one of Broken Age, the video game previously dubbed Double Fine Adventure.
Haven’t shipped a game of my own in 4.5 years, an adventure game in 16, a point-n-click in almost 20. Next Tuesday is going to be exciting!

Broken Age was split into two halves by Double Fine after they experienced some scope creep. The associated Kickstarter campaign originally had a goal of $400,000, but the game development studio went on to raise almost $3.4 million. This gave Double Fine some flexibility to run with the game a bit, and they may have ran a little farther than necessary.
So, Double Fine will break the game into two parts, with the first dropping tomorrow. Double Fine will be releasing an update later today presumably with details on how backers will be able to access the game. The game is said to be available via both Steam and direct download for backers.
The release of part one will help to generate some revenue for Double Fine as they work to release a more robust second version of the game in coming months.
We’ll have more on the release this week. Stay tuned…
