Dr. Richard Swart, the Director of Research at the Program for Innovation in Entrepreneurial Finance at UC Berkeley, will release new data, statistics and predictions regarding the peer-to-peer and investment crowdfunding markets.
With crowdfinance on the verge of transforming the capital markets, the industry saw over $2.2 billion in transactions filed within months of Title II being implemented, a number that is expected to skyrocket as investment advertising increases. Title III crowdfunding could go into effect as early as Q2, and peer-to-peer lending has increased 174%. Lending Club, a leader in peer-to-peer markets, has been discussing an IPO.
Debt and equity crowdfunding is changing the game for small businesses and established financial institutions alike. Every day investors are empowered to participate in securities purchases, while major players in the bank and financial world are tapping into crowdfunding’s billion-dollar potential in order to reach niche verticals and accomplish significant acquisitions.
Although still maturing in the United States, investment crowdfunding has already made a valuable impact abroad.
