Snooperscope Moves to Indiegogo After Successful Kickstarter Campaign

Snooperscope on IndiegogoSnooperscope “night vision for your iPhone” just closed their crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter this past December 25, 2013.  The project raised over £79,000 on a £40,000 goal.  Therefore I was a bit surprised to see the campaign pop up on competitor Indiegogo’s platform.  The pretail campaign has now migrated to Indiegogo to use the platform as their e-commerce platform to be able to continue processing orders for their device.  Their pricing on Indiegogo is slightly higher than their rewards on Kickstarter.  The post on the Indiegogo page states:

“Due to the huge media and backer demand in the last week of our Kickstarter campaign, we setup this Indiegogo campaign for any backers who missed out on pre-ordering a Snooperscope™ for delivery in June 2014.

We are not using Indiegogo to fund development of the Snooperscope, instead it’s a stop-gap to continue taking orders as a permanent e-shop.”

The Indiegogo campaign fired up on January 6th and has processed over $4700 since then (on a goal of $500).  Of course it was launched as a flexible funding campaign.

Snooperscope on iPhone and iPadThe Snooperscope web site continues to offer direct orders of the night vision device.  Perhaps UK based Psy Corporation found the exposure and promotional opportunities better on Indiegogo than off of their own web site.  Or maybe Indiegogo is taking a new strategic shift and becoming a crowdfunding platform and e-commerce solution for successfully crowdfunded products.  Only time will tell.
