Brief: Crowdcube – £8.3 Million for 2014

Crowdcube Updated Logo Transparent BackgroundEquity crowdfunding platform Crowdcube shared some insightful information this week.  So far for 2014 they have raised £8.3 million funding 38 businesses.  In the month of April alone the portal raised £2.3 million for 10 businesses.  In March Crowdcube funded 8 businesses for £1.6 million – so there was a bit of a leap month over month in activity.  For all of 2013 Crowdcube raised £12.2 million for 54 businesses.  Doing a rough extrapolation it would appear that 2014 is sizing up to be an improvement over year prior.

Crowdcube was founded in 2010 and according to their own number has funded over £24 million since the site launch.  Over 70,000 potential investors have registered on the growing platform.

NESTA has estimated that equity crowdfunding raised £28 million in the UK for all of 2013.  We are very interested to see how 2014 shapes up.

UPDATE:  We stand corrected as Crowdcube now stands at £9 million for the year – £25 million in total.
