Switzerland-based Dacuda has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for its invention, the PocketScan. Although the original funding goal was only $50,000, the campaign has raised $321,471 from 2,898 backers since its launch on June 16th.
According to the campaign website, the PocketScan is considered the “world’s smallest wireless scanner.” It is barely larger than a business card and is super light. It is compact, smart and incredibly easy to use.
The small, portable device is also the perfect on the go companion that wirelessly connects with the devices you love. It seamlessly connects to via Bluetooth/iBeacon to any PCs Mac or iPads. It instantly recognizes text in over 130 different languages and works great with Evernote or Microsoft’s Office suite. All text recognition runs locally on the device, which is great in countries with poor Internet connectivity.
The device can scan anything and any size, even things that don’t fit in a normal size scanner. It is powered by a unique and patented real-time image processing software, along with allowing the user to create beautiful scans and turns text and tables magically into editable content.
Founder and CTO of Dacuda Alexander Ilic stated, “We wanted to create a scanner that outperforms that traditional scanner. The scanner is compatible with popular software, produces consistently clear images and will simply scan items that a regular scanner is unable to scan.”
Dacuda also claims, “It’s the fastest scanner at hand and always works. As easy as pressing a button, PocketScan starts the scan. Anything you scan is wirelessly transmitted and instantly displayed on the screen. Scanning feels just like painting.
“Thanks to its unique design and sophisticated illumination, PocketScan works even in bright sunlight or low-light environments to produce consistent, clear, and high quality results.”
The campaign is set to close July 16th.
