Peer to Peer lending platform Funding Circle recently signed a partnership with Santander to help small businesses secure loans. They see this new strategic relationship as a methodology to help bring P2P into the mainstream. Samir states that about 1/3 of the businesses that finance through their platform would not be able to access capital elsewhere. Santander will now be referring these types of SMEs directly to Funding Circle. He also touches the differences in criteria between his P2P platform and how banks traditionally make their lending decisions.
