SCiO First Molecular Sensor that Fits in Your Hand (Video)

Dror Sharon, co-founder of Consumer PhysicsDror Sharon, co-founder of Consumer Physics based in Israel, visited the studios of CNBC this week to do the the “Power Pitch”.  He had the opportunity to explain the SCiO device – something that is actually pretty cool.  The “laser gadget” scans food and then returns interesting results like how much sugar, how many calories and let’s you know if it is bad stuff and you shouldn’t eat it (or least have a better idea of what you are about to consume).

Consumer Physics ran an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign to help market the SCiO and generate some working capital.  This past June, the company raised over $2.7 million as about 13,000 backers signed up to receive one of these devices.  Backers expect delivery next Spring.

SCiOOurCrowd, an equity crowdfunding platform that just witnessed the first IPO of one of their portfolio companies, is a shareholder in Consumer Physics.  It appears they might have another hit on their hands if Consumer Physics can deliver to consumers.

OurCrowd is one of the largest global investment platforms having raised capital for more than 40 companies and over $60 million – all in less than two years.
