Former Google Product Manager Seeks Funds For The World’s First HomePod on Kickstarter; Reaches Over 75% of Its Funding Goal First Day

KEECKER 2

Former Google product manager, Pierre Lebeau, launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for what’s considered the world’s first ever HomePod, the KEECKER. Aiming to raise $100,000, the project has already gained a ton of popularity and has reached $78,812 from 87 backers with the first day.

KEECKER 5KEECKER first hit the spotlight in January 2014 at CES Las Vegas and has been widely reported as one of the most innovative products presented at the show this year. It is described as a totally new type of computer that is entirely designed with the home in mind and will share real life moments, content, and even experiences. Equipped with a 360° audio and video camera, along with a powerful video projection system that moves up and down at a 90°, the homepod allows you to project movies & images, listen to music, browse the web, make video calls, play video games and even create home decoration.

Below shows how the KEECKER works:

Even more importantly, the KEECKER is wireless, completely mobile and moves so the user can enjoy high quality entertainment whenever and wherever they want. According to PSFK, the device, as a projector, can display any content from the user’s device’s small screen to a wall or ceiling. If they are browsing the web, using Skype with family or playing a computer game, the user won’t be limited to built-in screens.

Other features include:

  • KEECKER 1Home Analytics: Gives you a complete home dashboard
  • Alerts: From sudden temperature changes that indicate a fire, to a sound of movement that may mean intrusion, the user will receive alerts.
  • Live Remote Access: Users will be able to ensure their home is safe by being able to project themselves back at home from anywhere
  • Camera: Be able to virtually see what’s happening in the home through a smartphone

The KEECKER team noted, “We designed KEECKER with the home in mind, so naturally it’ll capture home vital information, like temperature, CO2 and noise levels, unusual movements and more. Plus you will be able to check-in remotely and move KEECKER to see what’s going on at home, start a live chat instantly, it’ll be like ‘teleporting’ yourself back!”

For Kickstarter early birds or the first 20 units, the KEECKER will cost $1,990. The price will then jump under $5,000. The device will be shipped to the campaign’s backers in April 2015 and it will be available for the public in September 2015.

The campaign is set to close on November 18th
