In September, Cincinnati’s Braxton Brewery hit Kickstarter to raise $30,000 to  create what the brewhouse called “the Taproom of the Future.” The project not only hit its initial goal within just 34 hours and raised $71,885 from over 600 backers. It also surpassed previously record brewery campaign holders, Tributary Brewing ($65,565) and Modern Times Brewery ($65,471), on the crowdfunding giant’s platform.

Braxton Brewing Co 1Sharing details about the project, the brewery’s team wrote,“At Braxton Brewing Company, we believe in this renaissance. Whether it’s building a community, new technology, or even a brewery, there’s a sense of pride that comes from building something great. We want to share Braxton Brewing Company with you, and we want you to play a role in helping us build it. By becoming a Braxton Builder you’re embarking on this journey with us, and together we are going to build something truly special.

“Over the past 12 months, we’ve been working feverishly to raise capital to get the brewery off the ground. We’ve ordered a beautiful, fully-custom, 4 vessel, 20 barrel brew house. But we’re doing more than starting a brewery. Nestled in the heart of Covington, Kentucky’s emerging Technology District, we are reinventing the taproom experience. Through amazing technology, we will provide you a space to make your own while enjoying the artistry and craftsmanship that defines Braxton beer.”

By helping to fund the campaign, backers were offered a Braxton Builders membership, which provided the following:

  • An invitation to the Builders-only meeting, where you will have the opportunity to vote on a seasonal release, make suggestions on the brewery’s future, and provide feedback to the team
  • The first opportunity to purchase special or limited releases, and gain VIP access to all special events
  • A beautiful, limited edition Braxton art print created by renowned artist Keith Neltner hand signed by Neltner and the founding team.
  • A limited-edition, Braxton Builders T-shirt

Braxton Brewing Co TeamAccording to Craft Brewing Business, co-founder and CEO of Braxton Brewing, Jake Rouse, stated, “We’re beyond excited and humbled at the support from both the Greater Cincinnati and Kickstarter communities. We never imagined the campaign to go so well, and can’t wait to share the space with everyone.”

Explaining the brewery’s plans with the funds, Rouse noted,”More than doubling our goal allows us to further advance our vision of the Taproom of the Future by focusing on a mobile application unlike any other in the industry.”

When the brewery’s campaign closed on October 30th, it was revealed that out of 600 backers, 80% were within the Greater Cincinnati area, and the remaining were from across the globe, including one backer as far as Tokyo.
