Brief: Blue Mountain State Feature Film Now in Production

Blue Mountain StateWildly popular Blue Mountain State – The Film, has gone into production according to an update from creator Eric Falconer.  The  film project raised almost $2 million back in May of 2014 capturing the support of 24,000 supporters.  The crowdfunding project on Kickstarter resurrected a franchise that had been shelved by Spike TV following a 4 year run.  Blue Mountain state was cancelled in 2012 but Falconer has proven the fan base remains with the successful film crowdfunding project.  While the funding from Kickstarter was not sufficient to pull off the entire production, it apparently was enough to encourage outside investors to pony up and back the film as Falconer announced in September he had secured additional funding.

Filming for the feature film started this past Monday, November 17th at the relocated sites in North Carolina.  The original series was actually filmed in Canada.  Falconer had reported the new filming location was to be in Charleston, South Carolina, but the South Carolina Film Commission was,Eric Falconer

“so appalled by our script that they refused to approve our bid for tax credits”.  Falconer continued by saying; “That’s how crazy and epic this movie is… it got us kicked out of an entire state. Fortunately, Wilmington (NC) has welcomed us with open arms”.

It will be interesting to see the final production.

Blue Mountain State – The Movie remains the 3rd most funded film ever on the Kickstarter platform.  The “epic, outrageous, feature length comedy” is only surpassed by Veronica Mars and Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here.
