Flow Hive, the beekeeping and honey making system that has captured the backing of thousands, is now the most funded campaign on Indiegogo of all time having raised about $5.3 million with over three weeks left on the offer.
Ubuntu Edge raised $12.8 million for its smartphone but failed to achieve the $32 million goal. The previous record holder was An Hour of Code that closed at over $5 million. Recent entry King Chapel at Morehouse, a live campaign, stands are just over $5 million benefiting from a single donation of $5 million.
The Byron Bay, Australia based Flow raised its $70K goal in under 8 minutes. It also set a record of most funds raised within a 24 hour period at $2.18 million. Indiegogo says that 30% of its campaigns are from outside the United States. The platform now operates in 224 different countries and offers crowdfunding in five different currencies.
Indiegogo points out that their platform has now had 10 multimillion dollar campaigns in the past year. Many of these successful projects have migrated to InDemand – the e-commerce option Indiegogo offers to keep projects on their platform longer.
