Kickstarter Suspends Luxury Watches by Lancaster Roberts Project After Various “Faulty Rumors” About the Timepiece Brand Surfaced

Lancaster Roberts 2

Last month,  Scott Lancaster and Robert Ham, founders of the luxury timepiece company Lancaster Roberts, announced the launch of their first collection of luxury watches on Kickstarter.

Lancaster Roberts 1The three collections of Lancaster Roberts luxury watches (First Edition range, Catena Series,  and Limited Edition Hirsch) were featured, and described as diverse, yet still highlight the core values and principles of simplicity and class that are so important to Lancaster and Ham. All collections were available in 40mm or 36mm for both men and women.

Lancaster and Ham were inspired to create watches that   can offer the customer something more than just a regular watch. They studied and took inspiration from all the most luxurious watch companies in the world, whilst perfecting the overall presentation of their time pieces. They wanted to innovate and make a watch that could be personally customized by anyone, whilst also maintaining a classic, distinctive appearance.

Unfortunately for the brand, its successful funding progress came to a screeching halt when the crowdfunding platform made the decision to suspend the campaign due to recent accusations that surfaced in the project’s comment section.

During a recent Facebook update, the creators of the timepiece shared details about the situation and what they believed happened:

Lancaster Roberts 5“We are aware that everyone, including ourselves, have received an email from Kickstarter as our project has been suspended.

“We have been aware of unusual activity on our project in the past few days. We were alerted that someone was making multiple accounts on various social media formats and spreading rumors about our watches.

“One comment which caught our attention was one which stated that they had ‘received their watch already’ and it arrived faulty. We found this slightly strange. The fact being that out of the only 10 Lancaster Roberts watches in the world, 9 are safely stored in Scott & Roberts office. And one was given as a prize yesterday. The comment was dated the 1st of April.

Lancaster Roberts 6“We are fairly sure there has been a third party using unethical tactics to try and disrupt the amazing success we were having. Our main focus at the moment is to find who is responsible and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“We’d like to thank Kickstarter for bringing this to ours and everyone else’s attention also. We will continue as normal, letting everyone know the progress of the business as we are on the verge of releasing some very exciting news.

“We will keep everyone updated with any further developments in the situation.”

Despite the “hiccup,” as they described it, the brand’s creators added that they will be back. But it’s unclear exactly when.
